At Shanty Bellum, we've put the Fun back in Funky by blending old Natchez charm with present-day amenities. We've created an urban oasis within stumbling distance of all the downtown watering holes and eateries, shopping, antiques, historic sites, and casinos. Shanty Bellum sits just steps from the bluff overlooking the Mississippi River, where the sun sets in glorious colors over the flatlands of Louisiana.
Shanty Bellum, a renovated 1880's row house built to house millworkers on the bluff, offers a laid-back vibe reminiscent of your favorite beach cottage back when there were STILL beach cottages. Furnished in thrift-store chic, you won't have to worry about scratching the furniture. Just relax in laid-back comfort and privacy. There's bead board galore, exposed brick, and original cypress from 1880's Mississippi River flatboats. Tropical colors form the backdrop for an eclectic collection of artwork and photographs.
You'll find two bedrooms with queen-sized beds, an electronic keyboard, full kitchen, living room, bath/shower, coffeemaker, off-street parking, high-speed wireless internet, cable TV, iron and ironing board and a washer and dryer.
Shanty Bellum is the brainchild of hit songwriter Tommy Polk, who is expanding his Clarksdale, Mississippi operation, Big Pink Guesthouse, to include Natchez with Shanty Bellum. Now, when you travel America's Blues Highway 61, we can accommodate you coming and going! We can also offer insight to all the fun and funky places from New Orleans to Memphis to Nashville.
